How to Lubricate Your Treadmill Belt

Lubricating your treadmill belt is recommended during installation, and periodically during use of the treadmill, to ensure your treadmill runs as smoothly as possible. 100% Silicone Oil, available on Amazon and at sports stores, is the recommended choice by Endurance Treadmill Belts and many other brands.

Frequent runners and walkers should lubricate their treadmill walking belt every 1 - 2 months. Occasional users should lubricate their walking belt every 3 - 4 months.

It is important to maintain a thin layer of lubricant on the surface of the walking deck to reduce friction between the belt and deck, keeping the friction as low as possible and ensuring your treadmill does not have to work extra hard to keep moving. If your deck is dry, it is time to lubricate your treadmill again.

To lubricate the treadmill belt, just lift the side of the belt, reach underneath as far as possible, and dispense the silicone oil underneath, ensuring you get an even amount all the way across. Do this from both sides of the belt. It is especially important to reach the center of the belt, as this is where your feet land the most, and is where most of the rubbing will occur. Some silicone oil bottles will come with a tube, making it even easier to reach the center area.
